In 1881, a young parish priest, Father Michael J. Mc Givney, gathered the men of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of New Haven Connecticut. He was concerned about the care of the widows and children of departed church members who worked in the mines. Out of the concern for their well being, was born the Knights of Columbus and it’s insurance program, which is a highly rated insurance company today solely for the Knights and their family members. The Knights have committed themselves to serve their church, their country and their fellow man through the activities of the order. Would you like to know more about him? Click here.

His Holiness Pope John Paul II (Karol Wojtyla)
Born: May 18, 1920 Ordained Priest: November 1, 1946 Ordained Bishop: September 28, 1958 Created Cardinal: June 26, 1967 Elected Pope: October 16, 1978 Entered into Eternal Rest: April 2, 2005
God our Father, You reward all who believe in you. May your servant, Pope John Paul II, successor of St. Peter, and the shepherd of your Church, rejoice with you now forever in heaven. By his own example, he faithfully witnessed to the mysteries of your forgiveness and love on earth.
You made him teacher of all your Church and he governed it with truth and love. Help us Lord to live the Gospel of Life he proclaimed so faithfully. O Lord, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, may his example give us courage to be “Totus Tuus” which means, “Totally Yours.” In your mercy bring him with the flock entrusted to his care to the reward you have promised your faithful servants. He lived by Jesus’ words, “Be Not Afraid.” May we follow our Holy Father’s example to live and announce the Gospel with courage in every stage of life. Grant him eternal rest O Lord, and let your perpetual light shine upon him. Amen. |

The Most Eminent and Reverend Lord Cardinal of the Holy Roman Church, Joseph Ratzinger who assumes for himself the name of "Pope Benedict XVI"
The Prayer for the Pope:
Lord, source of eternal life and truth, give to your shepherd Benedict XVI a spirit of courage and right judgment, a spirit of knowledge and love. By governing with fidelity those entrusted to his care, may he as successor to the Apostle Peter and Vicar of Christ, build your church into a sacrament of unity, love and peace for the entire world.
We ask this through Our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Sprit, One God forever and ever. Amen.
Pope Benedict asks that you please pray for more vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life.
